Your Firm

This section is for the people who set up and run Laminar for the firm: managing partners, office managers, and administrators. Everything here lives under Settings.

Here’s the lay of the land:

Users and teams. Invite people, set their role (Administrator or Member), deactivate accounts when someone leaves, and organize people into teams with a designated lead. Covered in User Management.

Trust accounts. Register your firm’s trust accounts so trust transactions have somewhere to flow. Covered in Trust Accounts.

Fulfillment configuration. Decide which specialized team handles which type of work, optionally with turnaround targets. This is what powers Service Channels. Covered in Fulfillment Configuration.

Event types. Configure the kinds of key dates matters carry and what clients see by default. Covered in Event Types.

Approval delegates and delegation. Let named users approve trust expenditures on a lawyer’s behalf (optionally up to a dollar limit), and grant delegate access so one user can view another’s work.

Assignment capabilities. Control who can be assigned which kinds of work: matters, tasks, trust transactions.

Documents and forms. Author the document templates, packages, snippets, and intake questionnaires your firm generates and sends. Covered in the Documents & Forms section.

  1. Users and teams first: people are the foundation everything else references.
  2. Trust accounts, so trust work can start immediately.
  3. Responsible lawyers and approval delegates, so expenditures don’t wait on signatures.
  4. Fulfillment configuration, once your specialized teams exist.
  5. Event types and templates, refined over the first weeks as your patterns emerge.

Most firms are productive after the first two steps; the rest tightens the machine.
